Updated Artistic Review guidelines and dates will be available by Sept. 1.
It is the student's responsibility to make an appointment for the required artistic review. Please read the following information very carefully.
Your Drama Artistic Review consists of an audition and an interview. You can make an appointment by using the online Artistic Review Scheduler or by calling 212 998 1870. We suggest using this faster, more accurate online scheduler, which is available around the clock. The telephone hotline is open Monday – Friday 10 AM – 5 PM EST. Due to the large number of applicants, we strongly encourage you to schedule your appointment as early as possible, in order to secure your preferred artistic review date.
Early Decision freshman applicants must audition in New York City and may schedule an appointment either online or by phone beginning October 1, 2007 at 10am EST. Early Decision artistic reviews are held weekdays only in November during the week and a half prior to Thanksgiving (NOV 12-16 and 19-21).
Regular Decision freshman applicants and Transfer applicants may schedule an appointment either online or by phone beginning November 1, 2007 at 10am EST. Regular Decision artistic reviews are held weekdays only for four weeks in New York City from Monday, January 28 - Friday, February 22. Transfer artistic reviews are held in New York City from Monday March 24 – Friday March 28. In addition to New York City, the department visits San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta and Houston to hold artistic reviews for Regular Decision and Transfer candidates in the first two weeks of February.

Your artistic review must be scheduled by the corresponding application deadline (Early Decision, Regular Decision, Transfer). However, you do not need to have submitted your application prior to scheduling your artistic review. An email confirmation of your appointment will include complete instructions about your artistic review.
Deadlines for the application and artistic review are strictly enforced. Please do not send supplementary materials such as DVDs, videos, cassettes, programs or scripts to the department. Additional material will not be reviewed or considered in the admissions process.
In extenuating circumstances, videos may be submitted for artistic review, but students must follow specific guidelines. (Please refer to the Drama Video Guidelines PDF. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered.) Also, please understand that while videos are weighed the same as live auditions, they are more difficult to evaluate and do not allow for personal interaction during the interview. Only use the video submission option if you absolutely cannot make it to one of the seven cities listed above for a live artistic review or in the event that all available audition appointments have been filled.
Artistic Review Requirements
When you request your artistic review appointment, you will be asked to select one of four entrance tracks: Acting, Musical Theatre, Directing or Technical Production. Once you have requested an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email containing more comprehensive explanations of the specific artistic review requirements for each entrance track. You will find a brief outline of each track’s requirements below.
Applicants are interviewed immediately following the audition portion of the artistic review. All applicants are required to bring a résumé and photograph to the artistic review. A professional headshot is not necessary. Your evaluator will not accept additional material beyond the résumé and photo. All monologues and songs must be from published plays.
It is imperative that you fully research all of the studios associated with the Drama department. Once accepted, each student is placed in a studio to complete two years of primary professional training. In the interview, each applicant will be asked about his or her own studio preferences, but the placement decision lies with the Drama department.

Artistic Review Tour Walk-in Policy
At all artistic review tour locations, we provide the opportunity for walk-in applicants to sign up for possible openings in the appointment schedule. (There is NO walk-in option in New York.) Morning sessions begin at 10 AM. Afternoon sessions begin at 2 PM. Approximately twenty minutes before each session, a facilitator will create a walk-in list, in order of arrival time. It is your responsibility to know where you are in line. You must attend the presentation that takes place at the start of the artistic review session. If we have applicants who do not arrive for their artistic review appointments, we will replace them with people from the walk-in list.
