There are limitless opportunities to meet people at Tisch and at NYU. Orientation is the first time you will meet fellow classmates, and students continue to widen their circle of friends through involvement in Tisch clubs and organizations. Because students spend so much time working within their major, good friendships are often founded in each department. For example, film assignments often require groups of students to work together as a crew, producing, directing, operating a camera, setting lights, and so on. Drama students spend three days a week with the same group of students in their studio section. The Photography and Imaging department is set up so that studios, labs, classrooms, gallery, lounge, and faculty offices are all in the same area. Tisch students enjoy being part of a small, close community while taking advantage of the resources and facilities of a major university.
