NYU and Tisch provide extensive resources for general computing needs (word processing, e-mail, and the internet) as well as more specialized, course-related needs (digital imaging, computer animation, and multimedia).
NYU's Information Technology Services (ITS) maintains four computer labs with Apple Macintoshes and IBM-type PCs and a wide variety of software. These labs are open to any student in an NYU degree or diploma program; just be sure to bring your NYUCard with you. One of the ITS labs is located in the Third Avenue North Residence Hall, and the other three are located at central locations around Washington Square. See the ITS website for lab locations and hours of operation.
In addition, NYUHome service is available from ITS to any NYU student in a degree or diploma program. The NYUHome portal provides access to your NYU e-mail, the Internet, and a variety of other web-accessible services, such as Albert and Blackboard. Students can set up a personal home page through NYUHome. For more information about NYUHome, including instructions on how to activate your account, see the NYUHome Help pages. Students can also check their e-mail or surf the Web at NYUHome stations located in the Tisch Common Room on the ground floor at 721 Broadway as well as at a variety of other locations around campus.
ITS also provides NYURoam, NYU's campus wireless network, which offers secure access to NYU online resources and the Internet from your laptop computer at a variety of locations. Instructions on how to configure your computer to access NYURoam are available on the NYURoam website, and, if you need help, they also offer hands-on wireless workshops.
